About Hospital Iftars

About Us - The Hospital Iftar Family

The idea for Hospital Iftar was born from a carers deeply personal experience. He spent a lonely Ramadan in the hospital while looking after his father, often breaking his fast with whatever was left on the hospital trolley sometimes just a pot of yogurt or a few potatoes. Food was the last thing on his mind, but in Ramadan, the need to open the fast remains.

A couple of years later, he found himself in the same situation, this time caring for his mother during Ramadan. It was in those quiet, reflective moments that the vision for Hospital Iftar took shape an initiative to ensure that no one observing Ramadan in the hospital would have to break their fast alone or with inadequate food.

Hospital Iftar officially started in 2018 with just 15 meals. Today, we have grown to serve over 180 meals at Manchester Royal Infirmary and other hospitals across the North West. But we don't just provide food we create a warm, uplifting community for carers, and hospital staff who may be going through difficult times.

We believe in offering more than just a meal. Each iftar is made with care, designed to be as exciting and fulfilling as the ones we would serve at home if not better. Our mission is simple: to bring comfort, connection, and a sense of family to those in hospital during Ramadan.

At Hospital Iftar, were more than a service we are a family.
